We believe in sharing our expertise with fellow entrepreneurs.

A couple of weeks ago, on Thursday, July 11, Caligoo’s Co-founder and Head of Mobile Computing Marco Picone was invited as a guest speaker to discuss how the Internet of Things can be considered a factor for competitive advantage inside mid- and small-sized companies, across all industries.

The initiative, titled Internet of Things: how to make your company smarter with data technology, was organized jointly by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, the Chamber of Commerce in Reggio Emilia, and Punto Impresa Digitale.

Marco Picone’s presentation, Practical cases and deployment of IoT systems, tackled a variety of aspects which characterize IoT technologies. Starting from an overview on the current challenges in the field, he shared his knowledge in regard to what the pillars of an IoT project and system require, then continued with a discussion on the significance of the paradigm of Edge Computing for new architectural systems, which allow people and object to connect seamlessly and securely. He concluded with a range of practical cases and deployments.

In fact, thanks to IoT technologies new scenarios are opening up and will have a significant impact on production machineries, processes, as well as client service and relations.

The event attracted many local entrepreneurs which operate across different industries in Reggio Emilia and demonstrated a special interest for the topic and mostly for the dynamics that occurr among data, people and objects.
